A household name in South Sudan with nine albums under his belt, Gordon Koang performs a blend of traditional Nuer rhythms and original compositions in English, Arabic, and his native language, Nuer. Accompanied by his cousin Paul Biel and his new Australian band, Gordon spreads a message of peace, unity and love. Having recently arrived in Australia seeking refuge from a country torn by civil war, Gordon is currently seeking asylum in Melbourne where he hopes to reunite with the rest of his family.
Gordon’s latest singles ‘Mal Mi Goa’, ‘Stand Up (Clap Your Hands)’ and ‘Asylum Seeker’ have been released through Music in Exile - a not-for-profit initiative aimed at increasing access to resources and building professional networks for asylum seeker and refugee musicians in Australia.
Gordon Koang will be live from the Triple R Performance Space on Wednesday August 28th during Out on the Patio at 6.25pm. Doors 6pm.
