Come celebrate the launch of double date’s latest single, ‘new performance!’ at the Merri Creek Tavern! The Brisbane/Meanjin based post-punk quartet returns to Melbourne with Damn Williams and Stockings (solo). YAY!
double date:
Meanjin/Brisbane based post-punk outfit ‘double date’ are a force to be reckoned with, blending infectious guitar melodies with stream-of-consciousness reflections on longing and isolation. Their explosive live act took over Brisbane's D.I.Y. scene in 2025, cementing their unrelenting rhythm-section and unique lo-fi approach as mainstays on the local circuit.
Their self produced, debut EP ‘in lampshade’ saw plenty of local love, placing Number 34th in the 2025 4ZZZ FM Hot 100, and landing them support slots with Radium Dolls, Girl and Girl, and Pash. Their reputation as a formidable live act continues into 2026, as they tour the Australian east coast in support of their latest single, ‘new performance!’.
Damn Williams:
Damn Williams perform Australiana poetics over indie rock with post-punk theatrics. It's '70s Bowie playing The Drones, Guided By Voices covering Joni Mitchell, Scott Walker fronting Pavement at Old Bar on a Sunday. Their songs feel strangely familiar: unstable, intentional and impossible to place. Literary storytelling, ragged guitars and a broad Australian vocal delivery evoke memories of the best years of your life, even if they're still ahead of you.
Stockings:
A mix of poignant, heartfelt lyricism and unbridled, honest angst, Stockings will take you on a journey full of feeling. Their self-titled debut EP looks at life through the snapshots of key memories, a mixture of post-punk tracks made to be blasted and softer indie pieces that feel incredibly personal.
Stockings is the new project of Lucy Robertson-Reid, Iggy Sim, Aspen Lehmann and Otto Grodach. Coming off a sold out headliner at Nighthawks and a strong indie community already behind them, Stockings is excited to see where this project takes them.
Stockings are currently (and always) working on new music, and plan to record toward the end of 2026.
