ACMI and RISING present The Vinyl Factory: Reverb
The Vinyl Factory: Reverb explores vinyl culture and music’s influence on art, fashion, film and social movements.
Originally staged at London’s 180 Studios, this immersive exhibition features works by Stan Douglas, Jenn Nkiru, William Kentridge, Jeremy Deller, Virgil Abloh and more, alongside highlights from The Vinyl Factory Collection.
Spanning eras and genres from Kingston’s dancehall scene to the late-80s Second Summer of Love, the exhibition brings together sculptural sound systems, remixable vinyl loops on Technics decks and a six-hour jam film set in a reconstruction of legendary New York studio The Church.
By day, the Listening Room is an acoustically optimised space where visitors can select records and settle in for deep listening. After hours, it hosts intimate one-off sessions with local and international artists.
