The Architects: Sustainability, Public Housing & Architecture For The Public Good

Christine & Rory from The Architects chat with engineer Ross Harding & and architect Simon Robinson (of Australia’s only non-for-profit architectural firm OFFICE) for a deep dive into energy, climate, sustainable building, public housing towers and how architecture can better serve the public’s best interests rather than profit motives.

“We can’t work for private capitol… so if we are to do housing it has to be public housing or for community housing providers. Unfortunately, the state government has been demolishing all its public housing since 2016 and we became aware that they were demolishing a lot of these estates without conducting a refurbishment study – so seeing if the buildings are in good enough condition that they can retrofit them to bring them up to contemporary standards”.
