SmartArts: Hermaphroditus at the Trans Theatre Festival
Guest host Jessamy Gee is joined by performers Bayley Turner and Zoe Terakes, and artistic director Dino Dimitriadis to discuss the 'urgent, ambitious and unapologetically trans' inaugural Trans Theatre Festival and their performance of Hermaphroditus.
The guests unpack their experiences as trans individuals within theatre and the world, and discuss the Trans Theatre Festival. The festival aims to bring communities together and amplify trans voices within theatre. It addresses the underrepresentation of trans-lens storytelling on stage and how the festival prioritises the 'authorship, leadership and creative control for trans voices', and how trans experiences will evolve the future of theatre.
Zoe also discusses their novel Eros and the process of adapting Hermaphroditus from book to stage.
"Come and hear the storytelling and a perspective, an approach and a lens that you might not get in another experience."
