This week on SmartArts host Richard Watts is joined by miniature artist David Hourigan, whose exhibition LOUD, LIVE & LOVED: Iconic Melbourne music venues in miniature opens on Friday 18 July at Off The Kerb Gallery.

For the exhibition, David has recreated some of Melbourne’s best-known and most-loved venues using a combination of modelling foam, plaster, wood, metal foil, paper and plastic cards. Each of David’s works demonstrate an incredible level of detail, he tells Richard how he brings these visions to life.

The pair speak about why David chooses to work in miniature and how quitting his full time job in 2019 to pursue his artistic passion is one of the best decisions he’s ever made.
