Press Colour: How Naretha Williams Centred Her Voice To Create a Synthwave Classic

Experimental interdisciplinary First Nations artist and musician Naretha Williams joins Sam to talk about her new album "Into Dusk We Fall". After the COVID lockdowns denied her access to the MESS studios she was making the record in, Naretha Williams adjusted the parameters of her practice and built an album from the ground up. What emerged was a triumphant shift in her sound, expertly combining her sound art sensibilities with more structured vocal-led compositions, allowing her to anchor the songs in themes of loss, longing and the role undying love can play in bridging emotional and physical chasms.
