Frantic Items: Asa Tone Are All The Way Live
Roaming international trio Asa Tone are performing in Australia for the first time as part of The Eighty-Six Festival. Members Melati ESP, Tristan Arp and Kaazi came into the studio for a laidback Sunday evening chat on Frantic Items.
Asa Tone's debut album Temporary Music was recorded in an Indonesian rainforest and the follow up was recorded remotely for a performance in Vancouver that never took place due to the pandemic. Their upcoming recoming release was recorded while in Tristan's current home of Mexico City.
The trio have been separated geographically by great dinstances over the last few years – now reunited, they're eager to be performing together again, as their music is mostly improvisational, responding directly to the environment surrounding them.
Asa Tone played at new venue High Note for the Eighty Six’s Super Saturday, and will be co-headlining a performance with Ros Bandt at the Northcote Uniting Church on Monday 30 October.
