Feel The Floor: HAAi Explores Machine-Led Dystopia and Emotion-Filled Utopia on Her Sophomore Album, HUMANiSE

The Australian-born, London-based DJ and producer, HAAi (aka Teneil Throssell) joins Feel The Floor ahead of the release of her album, HUMANiSE on October 10.

HUMANiSE is HAAi's sophomore album, stepping into more vulnerable territory away from her 2022 debut, Baby, We're Ascending. HAAi brings her own voice to the forefront in a powerful shift toward vulnerability and self-expression. Her vocals, stunningly delicate, give a newfound dimension to her kinetic productions. Throssell also expands to include a long list of collaborators like Obi Franky, Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), KAM-BU, Kaiden Ford, James Massiah– as well as two choirs, Trans Voices and a gospel choir led by Wendi Rose.

Exploring the sweet spot beteen machine-led dystopia and emotion-filled uptopia, HUMANiSE, reckons with what it is to be human in an increasingly digital world– "It’s intentionally glitchy, as if something’s malfunctioning,” says HAAi. Yet, the focus on unity is important throughout the album. HAAi explains, “Even though HUMANiSE is about how the world is starting to change beyond our control, it’s important to keep a sense of togetherness and hope.”

HAAi will be appearing in the Supernatural Amphiteatre for this year's edition of Meredith Music Festival and a soon-to-be announced 'all night long' show in Naarm.

HUMANiSE is out Friday, October 10 via Mute.
