Breaking & Entering: Jules Reidy Prepares to Unveil Ghost/Spirit
Jules Reidy joins guest host Billy Shears in the studio to chat about their new music, ongoing Australian tour, and upcoming Melbourne show.
Known for their pivotal role in Berlin’s contemporary music scene, Jules merges intricate guitar work with ethereal textures, using alternate tunings and processing to craft expansive, emotional soundscapes.
Their new album, Ghost/Spirit, set for release in February, captures a cosmic journey through love, spirituality, and transformation. The album delves into the tension between divine and earthly love, exploring how heartbreak can feel both haunting and ghostly.
“It’s a very heartsick album – when I was going through that heartbreak, I found consolation in the idea that when you really love someone, you transcend them,” Jules reflects.
They also share how the album’s emotional depth mirrors their personal experiences and how performing the songs feels like revisiting a past version of themselves.
“I’m pretty much the same person on stage as I am in life. I know some artists prefer to be a character on stage to protect themselves. For this tour, I’m still me, but performing songs from a year ago, it feels like I’m playing a character of my previous self.”
