Naarm-based writer and director Tig Terera joins Nana in the studio to discuss his SBS crime-drama series, Swift Street and his journey to becoming a professional screen storyteller.

Tig unpacks his creative process through the making of Swift Street, from his desire to authentically portray Melbourne's diverse inner north community, to challenging himself to separate his personal and professional lives when writing. He outlines his belief that Black people should be able to create stories on their terms.

Tig walks through how to turn an idea into a TV series and reflects on his creative journey from directing music videos to having his own network TV show. He also unpacks the story of landing one of his dream gigs: directing episodes of Netflix's hit series, Heartbreak High Season 3.

Tig touches on the importance of long-term community and emotional connection within the highly collaborative film industry. And he gives a little hint as to what he is working on next.
