Baseline: Paradise Now & Forever with Obongjayar
Ahead of his upcoming Australian tour, Nana is joined by Nigerian-born, London-based artist Obongjayar on Baseline for a deep dive into the expanded edition of his 2025 sophomore album, Paradise Now & Forever.
Obongjayar shares why this record feels like his debut and the personal journey behind its title. They break down the album’s creative process, from its spiritual, emotionally charged lyricism to its electrifying production. They also discuss how his life experiences continue to shape his 'post‑afro' artistry, his visceral approach to live performance, and performing in his home country, Nigeria.
"Everything I do is going to feel like the first time… I don’t want to dwell in an idea of what Obongjayar is or what Obongjayar’s music is. I want to be a place where I feel daring enough to take up where I currently am, rather than being comfortable in where I was."
Obongjayar returns to Australia and New Zealand this February and March, hitting major festivals including Golden Plains, WOMADelaide, and Electric Avenue. Obongjayar will also perform a headline show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on 3 March and Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on 6 March 2026. Tour dates and details here. Paradise Now & Forever is out now via September Recordings.
