Baseline: Comedy, Community, Censorship and 'CEEBS' With Leigh Lule

Writer and performer, Leigh Lule, joins Nana on Baseline to talk comedy, community and censorship. Leigh and Betiel Beyin are the creators of CEEBS, a heartfelt and slightly unhinged TikTok series that follows two best friends who try to save their beloved youth centre from closure. The absurdist comedy delivers razor sharp commentary on the corruption of power and the pressure placed on young people to fix the failures of adults who refuse to take accountability.

Leigh shares behind the scenes insights into the show's creation, from writing to casting, and what it means to make a series specifically for TikTok. They discuss navigating TikTok censorship, the importance of community centres and youth spaces, and media that centres messy, funny and layered Black women.

All 18 episodes of CEEBS are streaming now on TikTok (@ceebsseries). Keep up with the show here.
