Banksia: Poro of FAMILI On EP Release BLOODFIRE and Upcoming Talanoa

Papuan Melanesian artist, fundraiser and social architect, Poro of FAMILI joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to catch up about FAMILI following the release of EP BLOODFIRE and ahead of their upcoming Talanoa.

Poro spoke the meaning behind the EP BLOODFIRE which centres the element of fire, the process of creating the release and the significance of spoken word piece Freedom Fighters as a West Papuan advocate.

The pair also spoke about an upcoming Talanoa, which is a traditional word used across the Pacific to reflect a process of inclusive, participatory, and transparent dialogue. It will provide an opportunity to share with community about FAMILI's process of creation, learnings, triumphs, lessons, values, ways of working towards creative and collective movement.

FAMILI is an oceanic shapeshifting musical collective that draws from the ancient and new, who released a powerful five track EP in November 2025 which featured singles Firekeeper and Our Blood.
