"Behold" is the new LP from local band Parsnip, comprising Paris Richens on bass, Carolyn Hawkins on drums, Stella Rennex on guitar and saxophone, and Rebecca Liston on keyboard and vocals. It's their first in five years, reflecting a growth and creative exploration period.

The album's filled with signature wit and melodic songwriting, drawing inspiration from '60s and '80s pop influences. There are layered vocals and a range of instruments including 12-string and acoustic guitars, percussion, piano, saxophone, and harmonium.

Lyrics are playful and profound. There's introspection in "Monument" and "The Babble" while other songs, like "Turn to Love", offer a sense of serenity and reflection. Parsnip balances it all with plenty of energy, especially on the upbeat 'Papier-Mâché'.
