Melon on the Vine is the brilliant second album from Melbourne/Naarm band On Diamond.
Produced by singer-songwriter Lisa Salvo and guitarist Scott McConnachie, the arrangements feature Genevieve Fry's ethereal harp, Duré Dara's exploratory percussion, Jules Pascoe's bass, and Myka Wallace's drums. Structured song forms meet open improvisation in a fluid sound spanning folk, jazz, and experimental rock. It's a thrilling balance of pop songcraft and artful freedom.
Some moments are meditative and immersive, others are restlessly propulsive. Salvo writes of moving through trauma toward connection, letting go, and patiently learning to grow on her own terms.
