Moments is the seventh studio album from Australian electronic pioneers Cut Copy, released via their own Cutters Records. Emerging half a decade on from 2020’s Freeze, Melt, the record reflects a time shaped by Whitford’s new role as a parent and the turbulence of the wider world.
Whitford sought to process these transformative years through euphoric, communal dance music. Electronic textures blend with synth-pop, trip-hop, and rock, inspired by the genre-melting spirit of early hip-hop, electro, and proto-house.
The resulting songs balance personal reflection with collective catharsis. Lyrics explore connection, resilience, and empathy across division, as on tracks like 'When This Is Over'. Elsewhere, 'Belong To You' features American singer-songwriter Kate Bollinger and pedal steel from Graham Lee of The Triffids.
It's a collaborative album, designed to bring people together. As Whitford reflects, "Dance music is about connecting with one another after all."
