Blue Communications is the debut self-titled album from Melbourne inner north trio Aine Keogh, Billie Burrows and Zev Weinstein, released on Southern Exposure Records.

From the seed of The Velvet Underground, The Great Society and Young Marble Giants, Blue Communications sprung up amongst the reeds of Merri Creek in late 2024, tending their sound by practising entirely in the morning. The trio is the result of a life long friendship between Billie and Zev, while Aine was asked to join within a few minutes of first meeting Billie. Their connection was quickly cemented. The group’s synergy developed across live shows over 2025, performances playfully incorporating the melodica, guiro frog and shruti box, alongside stand up drums, bass and guitar. They cite US shapeshifters Ween as a practical and theoretical inspiration to the band, with Billie and Aine describing them as a “spiritual influence" in a recent interview with Tyler Bain on Triple R program Orange Juice.

Blue Communications was captured by Jasper Jolley at Ocean Grove’s Big Fridge Sounds. Across their 8 track album, the band creates a landscape in which to breathe. Harmonic space in discordant times. They bring the breeze through a window as you awaken from an afternoon nap, doo-wop on the record player in the next room, dappled light creeping through the blinds. Exploring complexities of wanton sexual delight, political violence, ecological collapse and Australiana, without judgement or exclusion, but with wide eyed and vulnerable delivery, like feeling for the first time.

Blue Communications are ready to meet you in your sharehouse kitchen with a cuppa, some marmalade toast, and a solid chat. They’ve been up for hours.
