Biofilter is the debut album from Melbourne electronic collective Birdsnake. The ten tracks emerged from years of live jamming by Winton Findlay, Jacob Minarelli, Leon Sebastian, and Ayden Thorne, who met through music school and spent time developing material through performance before recording.

The album blends synthesisers with live bass, percussion, and acoustic instruments, including harpist Genevieve Fry on lead single 'Rare Amulet'. Production centres on dub techniques: echo chambers, spatial reverb, and deep bass grooves. The sound sits between downtempo electronica, acid jazz, and psychedelic funk, with extended sections allowing rhythms to fully develop.

Track titles like 'Mariana's Trench Coat' and 'The Slow Dance of Kelp' thread aquatic imagery throughout the record. Water-inspired themes also infuse 'Rare Amulet', which the band says was inspired by light patterns through shallow water.
