"The Hum" is a confident return for Leeds-based band Hookworms. The album draws from a rich history of punk, noise, psychedelic pop traditions, propelled in parts by strong motorik rock rhythms. There's a variety of pacing too, with meandering melodies and gentle drones forming the basis of absorbing songs such as "On Leaving."
