YEGI are a collective of young musicians who have been performing in Naarm for many years. Led by rapper Isaac Wattis, YEGI present a unique expression of hip hop where lyrics move with groove-based textures of modern jazz, neo-soul and percussive UK drill and drum n bass rhythms. Their music explores themes of paradox and emotional expression through the lens of Isaac’s lived experience, hoping to connect with listeners through vulnerability and shared humanity. Inspired by the likes of Avantdale Bowling Club, Yusseff Dayes and Loyle Carner, YEGI offer a new flavour of jazz-rap in Naarm.
Isaac Wattis (vox), Christian Sella (drums), Bella McMahon (sax), Christy W-J (keys), Robbie Belchamber (guitar), Rob LFO (Bass)
