Yachay is a special type of phlegm used by ancient Peruvian shamans which contains powers to heal the sick. Kinda gross. Kinda cool. Yachay are also a band from Melbourne Australia led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Ted Dempsey along with his 3 brothers Whill, Lars and Henry and rounded out by the rhythm section of Jules McKenzie and Miranda Holt.

Yachay, like their namesake could also be described as kinda cool and yeah, kinda gross. Describing their sound as “depression pop”, this family band of misfits play a melange of psychedelic punk rock taking influence from everything from The Beatles, Neil Young through to Dead Kennedy’s, Buzzcocks and more contemporary artists including Yuck, Dr Dog and The Shins.

Having played numerous shows around Melbourne over the last 12 months including a Cherry Bar residency and headline shows at The Grace Darling and Old Bar, Yachay are releasing their second single for the year “Stuck Here With You” at The Yarra Hotel in Abbotsford.

Joining them on the night are goon lovin’ punkers Keggin, the bluesy psych of Castilles as well as an opening solo set by Brodie J Brümmer of the outstanding Flyying Colours
