Lee Jones is a British jazz guitarist and composer, combining influences from modern jazz, rock, blues and free improvisation. Lee has regularly performed throughout the UK scene and recorded/performed/studied alongside Larry Coryell, Martin Taylor and Mike Stern. Since graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Course in 2007, he has released seven solo albums with former WEA producer Simon Tittley and in 2019 completed a PhD in music composition at the University of Salford, Manchester. Lee is now based in Melbourne, Australia and is planning a solo tour of Japan in April 2025. Lee released his latest solo guitar project, A World Away, in late 2023 and is currently working on a new recording for late 2025/early 2026.
Tonight, Lee will be uniting a very special group honouring leading giants of jazz guitar including Barney Kessel and Wes Montgomery. Tonight’s lineup, featuring some of Melbourne’s finest musicians, will be performing a range of diverse repertoire from classic albums including Boss Guitar, Smokin’ at the Halfnote, and Jellybeans with a soulful, blues-inflected passion throughout.
