He spent most of his teenage years at the Marine Base where he started doing music as a part of a teenage rap group and went by the name Lil King. Years down the line, he started trying his hands on music production and by 2019, he had become the neighbourhood Go-to guy for music production.

After he produced a couple of songs that enjoyed some success in Port Harcourt, he thought he could do so much more and that’s when he dusted his mic. The same year he recorded ‘Hello Brother’ and ‘Do not Disturb’ which went on to enjoy radio rotations in Port Harcourt earning him his record deal with KeyQaad.

Omah Lay’s music is deeply Afro Fusion – with his biggest strength lying in his song writing. According to him “I take my time with every song, I’m not one to just knock off a song immediately, I have to listen to the needs of the song”.

Omah Lay writes and produces most of his records so it would be accurate to say he owns his sound.

He dropped his debut EP ‘Get Layd’ on the 22nd of May to rave reviews garnering over 200m streams on all platforms, spending 3 months as the #1 album on Apple Music Nigeria since release.

On 20th November, Omah Lay released his second EP, ‘What Have We Done’, becoming his second project in a year to reach number 1 across multiple charts and platforms, as well as producing his third number 1 single, ‘Goldy’, following the trail of ‘Bad Influence’ and ‘Infinity’. 2021 has seen him produce his fourth number 1 single with the release of ‘Understand’.

Omah Lay has also attracted a host of award nominations, including ‘THE HEADIES’ ‘Next Rated’ (winner) and MTV MAMA ‘Breakout star of the year’ categories.
