Matthew Turkington - Owner and Director of Vicious Instinct Records, a staple member of the international metal scene providing the heaviest of bands with endless support whilst providing fans with quality releases, merchandise and heavy music news for bands that often fly under the radar... well... Now it's time for us to help him!
Matt currently has severe issues with his spine caused by past injury/surgery that needs some special attention from specialty doctors overseas, so far nearly 75% of funding has been raised to help him and we're looking to push it over the line.
Across Australia multiple Vertebral Carnage shows will be taking place to make this happen, so please come down - we will have merch/prizes and more to get involved to help Matt crush this life saving surgery.
Otherwise, please see the bios of our brutalising lineup below!
Formed in Tasmania before relocating to Melbourne, Australia, the crushing intensity of Zeolite shares the same foundations as the world-renowned Australian death metal act Psycroptic. In 2021 the band released their debut album ‘Proselytism’ through EVP Recordings (Freedom Of Fear, Psycroptic, Disentomb) which was acclaimed by leading metal webzine Bravewords as ‘gargantuan’. Relentless in the bands touring activity across Australia Zeolite have confirmed their place as one of the country’s most intense live acts, performing New Dead Festival, Blacken Open Air, Mona Foma, Dead Of Winter Festival, with supports alongside iconic acts such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Aborted, At The Gates and Vulvodynia in Australia and New Zealand. With an intensity that captures technical, cold, barren death metal, Zeolite will appeal to listeners of acts such as Ulcerate, Decapitated and Humanity’s Last Breath. In an era where Australian bands continue to forge names worldwide for sheer brutality and live performance, Zeolite are here to deliver.
Melbourne based 4-piece instrumental group ‘Wallet Inspector’ blend many elements to create a unique progressive metal sound borrowing elements from technical death metal, jazz fusion and funk. Making their live debut in 2021 the band has supported acts including The Omnific, Dyssidia, James Norbert Ivanyi, Stephen Taranto and Whoretopsy. Wallet Inspector are currently preparing to enter the studio to record a debut album set for release in 2023.
Hysterectomy are an Australian slam band founded on the love for dirty heavy music & wild live performances, peppered with technical skill & a love of all that is grotesque. Born of a passion for high-energy, fast-paced live shows and loud, dark sounds made to offend mums everywhere, this group of unsuspecting Aussie lads make music for those looking to get in touch with their morbid humour and crash headfirst into like minded others to the comforting sound of wailing guitars, pulsating bass & guttural screeches.
Habitual Depravity is a Technical Brutal Death Metal band hailing from Melbourne, Australia.
Initially founded by multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Urwin, Habitual Depravity was conceived back in early 2017 with the intention of creating some of the heaviest, technical & dissonant form of brutal death metal possible. Not long after, the band recorded a 2-track promo (with Jonathan taking on all instrument duties) and was met with great reception online. This quickly caught the attention of Reality Fade Records leading to a record deal, and recruitment of renowned blast master Marco Pitruzzella (Waking The Cadaver, Six Feet Under, Neurogenic, etc) to take on drumming duties for the debut album ‘Realms of Abysmal Servitude’, which was released end of 2018 with Jonathan on guitar, bass and vocals duties.
Receiving great praise within the metal community, this eventually led to the expansion of the band with local shredder Ollie Morgan joining in 2019 to take on live guitar duties and Jonathan remaining on live vocals. Fast forward to now, Habitual Depravity took to the stage for the first time in February with the likes of Blade of Horus, Exhuminator and Complexant which was met with great success. With more shows on the horizon, Habitual Depravity have no intention of slowing down anytime soon and are set for a new release late 2023.
Three fiends crawl from the darkness of Melbourne, shattering the sounds of black metal, surf and punk and assembling the shards to form Who Bastard. Guttural screeches take on doo-wop beats in a no holds barred wave of aggression. Featuring members of Burial Pit, Going Swimming and Munt.
