Tropical F Storm are coming. Ready to warp meatspace with their acerbic, anarchic rock. They were formed by Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin after their legendary art rock band The Drones went on hiatus in 2016. Joined by Erica Dunn (from punk trio MOD CON) and Lauren Hammel (from metal mainstays High Tension). Armed with soaring harmonies and Talking Heads-style funk that’s nested in snarling, stuttering guitar-play. And, of course, those frantic narratives that voice our collective unease. They’ll be playing from their new album Fairyland Codex in their final hometown show before heading off to tour the US and Europe.
Erica Dunn describes the new album as “an anthem of resistance for all left with a beating heart to scoop themselves out of the bubble bath of social malaise and backyard domineering to perceive the ticking clock of reality square in the face before we are all left to eat Levis scraps like fruity loops in bowls of printer toner and orangutang juice”. Which pretty much sums it up.
This is their final Australian show for a while. Don't miss it!
