The Four Scoops are a combination of four unique working musicians from differing musical heritages bound by a love of back-beat groove.
The groups musical heritage harks back to a time of melting musical styles as Jazz met early Rock n Roll. Their repertoire is wide and varied from Blues shouters Winonie Harris to Jazz back beat legend Louis Jordan to Fifties crooners to Bolero versions of Cold Chisel and Dragon hits. The Four Scoops love of variety in tunes and grooves has its basis in the diversity of the members.c
Parle Green are a 5-piece band hailing from Naarm/Melbourne who are kind of Psychedelic but also have some Krautrock and Carnatic elements, as well as a few other different things going on.
I asked some friends what we sound like and there were a variety of responses, my personal favourite being ‘Cool / interesting / lots of sounds.’ Another friend told me they can play it at their work, and no one complains about it.
Someone once described it as ‘music for plants.’ Other terms that have been thrown around include ‘meditative’ and ‘transcendental’ so make of that what you will.
We will be playing on the eve of December 6th at Bar Open, joined by fellow balladeers Tam Vantage and Molly Mckew.
We hope you will grace us with your presence and enjoy an all-round pleasant evening of music and festivities.
