The Cherry Reds are an almost all-original indie folk collaboration of 5 female and gender diverse musicians, drawing on country, folk, gospel, rock & blues. Featuring songwriter Rachel Wilson on vocals and acoustic guitar, lead guitarist Poppy Turbiak, bass player/singer Heidi Sanghvi, singer Emily Hayes, and recently joined by drummer/singer Fionn Ellwood, their music tells homegrown stories of love and loss that are heartwarming, luscious, quirky and gritty. They share deep roots in community choirs and music making, folk and rock bands, and songwriting circles. Their performance style is warm and inclusive, encouraging of audience participation and known to feature a pop-up choir!

Known for their soul-wrenching vocal harmonies, great energy and humour, the Widows play an intoxicating mix of bluegrass, Americana, gospel, and blues. With two ukes, a banjolele and a whole lot of spunk, the Widows breathe new life into the folk genre. Their fresh arrangements of both obscure gems and standards from different eras will have you alternatively stomping your feet and crooning along with them. With a repertoire that's as colourful as their patterned frocks, and as diverse as their vocal range, the Widows are a gutsy, feminist act that is not-to-be missed!
