They Don't Make Afternoons Like This Anymore. We Do.

A century ago, every ballroom, theatre, and dance hall in Melbourne had a resident jazz orchestra. The music was made for dancing, not for sitting quietly in the dark. Born in 1924 for the opening of Walter Burley Griffin's legendary Capitol Theatre, the Capitol Theatre Orchestra is Melbourne's most Melbourne's finest vintage jazz orchestra. Now rebirth and celebrating our centenary, we invite you to Brunswick Ballroom to experience authentic swing, beloved classics, and the kind of vintage afternoon you heard about. 

From "Happy Feet" to "Singin' in the Rain," And plenty rare gems, we rescued from the Jazz Age vault. Delicious food. Refreshing drinks.  A dance floor that's been waiting all century is yours !  Kick up your heels and join the fun.

This is your afternoon to step out of 2026 and into 1928.

Not just a regular Bruno Disco. It’s bigger, bolder and more decadent, and set in one of the poshest ballrooms in Melbourne. We’ve gathered some of our favourite artists, performers and deejays to deliver their magic in the grandeur of Brunswick Ballroom on Saturday night March 28. Doors swing open at 7.30pm sharp with Miss Katalyna (DJ) and Butch le Butch (DJ) kicking things off, and the first performance is at 9.30pm. Here's a rundown of the evening we have in store for you:

As for the dress code, well, as always you are your own theme. We don't want to put pressure on peeps to have to go and spend money right now, so dig into that wardrobe and see what ya got. This is an opportunity to glam it up, but we also get that this might invoke primordial night terrors for some folk (lol), so just come as you are and that is flavour enough :)
