Soul in the Basement is a weekly Thursday evening party which has been happening at Cherry for a staggering 18 years in one of Melbourne’s world renowned dive bars! Showcasing the best contemporary and legacy acts in in the world of soul music along with funk and disco, the weekly party continues to be an institution for those enamoured with leaving the house for a big evening of appreciating live musicianship and resident DJ’s such as Vince Peach working a dance floor late into the evening with classic 45” pressings.

As part of the Live Music Safari Program this year, Cherry will be presenting The Cactus Channel live on stage. A Melbourne seven-piece alternative soul band who are part of the soul revival that cherish the artistry of yesteryear with an energetic stage show + The Soul Movers. Ex Red Wiggle Murray Cook’s The Soul Movers musical recipe combines sixties-style soul with a sprinkling of pop all laid down on a retro rhythm and blues slab.
