Ceremony. It is the heart and soul of human interaction, the lifeblood of community. We mark our time on this Earth through sacred ritual, and thereby come to a greater understanding of our own mortality - and of the possibility of transcendence.
While many traditional ceremonies guide us through a year, there is perhaps none more spiritual - none more truly holy - than the Winter Joulstice. Ah, the Joulstice! Yes, since time began, in the depths of every winter, enlightened souls gather all around the world to celebrate the songs of William Martin Joel, and console each other with the knowledge that this is the time to remember (for it will not last forever).
So it is that on the afternoon of Sunday, July 23rd in the Brunswick Ballroom, the Billy Joels will gather to play and sing the songs of the Bard. If you're in the mood for a melody with your tonic and gin (or a bottle of white? a bottle of red? perhaps a bottle of rose instead?), join Scott Edgar (Tripod), Casey Bennetto, Tamara Murphy, Enio Pozzebon, Mark Leahy and guests for the Winter Joulstice, to celebrate Billy and the passing of time. As ever, we might be laughing a bit too loud - but that never hurt no-one.
