The Australian Van Morrison show emerged from the Irish pub scene in Melbourne in the early 2000s, fronted by Scottish born singer songwriter Steve Boyd.

At the Rainbow pub, the licensee of Molly Bloom’s Irish pub approached Steve and asked if he and his band might be interested in performing an evening of Van Morrison songs as a tribute to the great Celtic artist. A long time admirer of Van Morrison, Steve agreed to put together a set to celebrate the Irish legend.

The Molly Bloom’s show exceeded all expectations and the band were asked to play a monthly residency. Word spread about the tribute and the AVM show began receiving offers to perform regularly at clubs and venues across Victoria. Shortly after their debut at Molly Bloom's, Steve Boyd's tribute was working 4 nights a week.

After a successful 18 months Steve made the decision to stop the tribute stating that “He never wanted to tire of singing Van’s songs” and that he believed "a tribute should value art first” Steve Boyd continued with his solo career and the Van Morrison tribute would perform only occasionally over the coming years.

Those fortunate enough to have caught one of the rare performances of the AVM Show will attest to an evening of great music performed by talented passionate musicians. After a decade long break Steve has reformed the Van Morrison tribute to perform some shows in 2023.

Steve will be joined by his seven piece band with acclaimed guitarist Glenn Goldsmith, drummer Paul Fiddes as well as brass section.
