Fragmented house meets forest-fed ambience
As Season 11 closes, drinks will flow while three sonic explorers set the tone — shifting from ambient jazz to soul-inflected grooves and deep cosmic cuts. Suupaa will bring the snacks, serving up their take on Japanese konbini culture as night falls under Tadao Ando’s pavilion.
First up, we’ll settle in with a landscape-inspired set of improvised ambient music. Sean La’Brooy and Alex Albrecht modernise classic jazz while walking their sound through rainforests and along shorelines to absorb the natural frequencies. Corey Kikos is one-half of Sleep D, an absolute pillar of the Melbourne/Naarm underground. Lately, Corey’s been going deeper into mutated house, acid scraps and ambient. Together, the trio will collaborate, live, on an unrepeatable stretch of deep sound immersion.

After an immersive stretch of improvised ambient music from Albrecht La’Brooy x Corey Kikos we’re cranking things up with a stalwart of Singapore’s subculture, RAH. She’s a DJ whose journey into electronic music began at drum & bass raves in the early 2000s. Now, behind the decks, she’s carved out a playful, ever-evolving sound that blends the old and new. Her roots are in jazzy, soul-inflected rhythms and she’s got a steadfast focus on fizzing the collective spirit.

After an immersive stretch of improvised ambience from Albrecht La’Brooy x Corey Kikos and a soul-inflected party set from Singapore’s RAH, we’re handing the decks over to the legendary Chee Shimizu.
Chee was one of the first DJs in Japan to introduce experimental disco, Italo, cosmic and leftfield sounds to the country’s dancefloors through his Discosession parties. He’s been the owner and operator of Organic Music record store since 2008 as well as 17853 Records label since 2015. He has a discerning ear and open heart who’s booked slots with Dekmantel Selectors, Berlin Atonal and Sound Metaphors, just to name a few. Eclectic and electric. A fitting way to farewell the season.
