More details ↓

Adelaide singer & songwriter, Ricky Albeck, returns to The Gem with new songs, a new band, and great friends in that of Kyle Brew Band & Sally Stenning, all the way from the UK.

Ricky’s songs have been described as post pub rock and mix alt-country sounds with a love for Australian post punk. Generally good, real and funny, but serious.

Ricky will be joined by an inimitable musical gang ft. Ella Ion, Robert Muinos, Josh Barber & Louis McDonald.

Calling all rock ‘n’ roll romantics! Get ready for a wild Valentine’s Day vintage love-in at
The Gem featuring garage R’n’B legends The Breadmakers, surf-rock instrumentalists
The Earthquakes, and mod freakbeat rockers The Predawn Civilisation. And to cure
that burning heartache, wax guru Bruce Milne will be spinning forbidden 45s of desire
until late!

The Breadmakers have been a Melbourne underground institution for more than thirty-
six years and are still going strong. They play a stripped-back, sweat-drenched mix of
rhythm ’n’ blues and garage punk - the kind of music made for small rooms, sticky floors
and late nights!

The Earthquakes are a dynamic instrumental trio slinging seismic surf, tectonic twang,
high-richter rock ’n’ roll and evocative eruptions by blending elements of surf, rockabilly,
garage and psych into their own far-out sound. They guarantee a raucous reverb-
soaked ride!

The Predawn Civilisation started out with a small fragment of fossilised primordial
slime retrieved from deep under an ancient tar pit, and with modern cloning techniques
recreated the sounds of 60s proto-punk, garage, mod and freakbeat!
Saucier than a Mills & Boon, racier than pulp fiction, hotter than a blue movie – don’t
miss this steamy night of mid-century inspired rock ’n’ roll intoxication at the iconic Gem!
