Senegalese born Ousmane Sonko has been playing drums, and performing professionally since the age of twelve. As well as an accomplished artist, Ousmane has been an inspirational teacher to many students from around the world including Japan, Europe and Australia. Ousmane also travelled to Munich and London to perform in the critically acclaimed show “Afrika Afrika”. His energy and love for music is visible whether he is playing djembe, dundun, Tama (talking drum), sabar, or guitar. Since arriving in Australia, Ousmane has conducted drumming workshops nationwide, and performed regularly at venues Ousmane teaches West African drumming weekly in Brunswick, and is available for performance/corportate events, and drum and song workshops.
Ousmane is also the Creative Director, lead musician and singer of the Melbourne based Senegalese Hybrid band Kairo (which means Peace).in the Mandinka Language Culture freedom peace
