Maggie Carty Returns Home for a High-Octane Full-Band Show at The Lomond Hotel Melbourne Launch & Final Stop of Ebb and Flow Australia-Wide Tour.
Irish-born, Naarm/Melbourne-based banjo player and singer Maggie Carty brings her debut solo album Ebb and Flow home for a powerful, full-band performance at The Lomond Hotel on Saturday, 11 October. This will be the final stop on her Australia-wide tour — a vibrant, high-energy celebration of her journey, music, and deep connections to both her Irish roots and adopted hometown.
Raised in a musical family from the west coast of Ireland, Maggie has become a standout voice in Australia’s folk scene since relocating to Melbourne in 2017. Her soulful vocals and driving banjo rhythms blend Irish traditional music with contemporary Americana, blues, and Australian folk influences, creating a sound that is both timeless and refreshingly new. Maggie has performed at major festivals including Port Fairy, Woodford, and the National Folk Festival, and in 2023 made history by founding the first Australian céilí band to compete at Ireland’s All-Ireland Fleadh.
At this hometown show, Maggie will be joined by her powerhouse full band featuring guitar, double bass, didgeridoo, and percussion. Expect a dynamic, high-octane performance that will have you dancing, singing, and completely immersed in the rich stories and rhythms of Ebb and Flow. The band’s tight, energetic grooves and soaring melodies combine to deliver a night full of intensity, soul, and celebration — a fitting finale to a national tour that has seen Maggie perform across every Australian state and territory between August and October 2025.
Ebb and Flow explores themes of emigration, identity, and cultural heritage, reflecting Maggie’s own family’s waves of movement between Ireland and Australia. The album breathes new life into Irish traditional songs through fresh arrangements and heartfelt storytelling, inviting audiences on a deeply personal and universally resonant musical journey.
Join Maggie Carty at The Lomond Hotel for an unforgettable night marking the final chapter of Ebb and Flow: Songlines of the Diaspora — a powerful celebration of tradition, transformation, and homecoming.
