After 7 long and torturous years, the evil, majestic, and malevolent Virulent Invocation are finally hitting the stage for their live debut, Friday August 1st upstairs at the venerable institution that is The Bendigo Hotel. With sinister riffs and punishing grooves combining Aussie Death and Black metal with Bolivian Death and Thrash, Virulent Invocation contain former members of Hadal Maw, Headless, Monoliyth, Anient and Mar Mortuum, to name but a few. With another member having been pursued by Current Affair for dungeon related Aussie soap opera abuse and the rotating drum stool being occupied by veritable drumming beast and the pulse behind both Hadal Maw and Freedom of Fear, Liam Weedall, this band is going to have an impact on your mind, body, soul and sanity one way or the other.
Providing the class and muscle on the night are fellow DangerTone Studios alumni and fast rising purveyors of melodic, soaring and downright filthy grooves, the awesome Kniver, and the established superstars of their own heady mix of grooves, rock, punk, metal and debauched humour: The singular musical force that is Nephalem!
With $10 plus booking fee pre sale tickets (Via Oztix), the possibility of a celebrity guest MC famed for his ability to pour both vitriol and humour(and beer and other....things) on a crowd of punters, the iconic setting of the Bendi and 3 bands determined to punish you, this shall be an evening to be remembered, savoured and lied about for years to come. Do it. Get the ticket. You've earned it!
After 6 years, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 finally returns. The ingressive metal entity recombines in live trio form for a rare Naarm appearance and first headline show, supporting the 2LP release of 2024's acclaimed “𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚”. Hand-picked to join them in the Bendigo's wintry embrace are an assembly of the country's finest misery merchants. 𝙉𝙎𝙒'𝙨 putrid death-doomers 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 are headed down, hot on the heels of their debut LP 𝙈𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙄𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙊𝙛 𝙂𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙛, for a lecture in disembowelment and their first interstate show. Locals 𝐓𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐫 unleash their face-ripping death metal assault with a taste of their forthcoming record, flanked by the bludgeoning noise metal machinery of 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋. Not to be missed under any circumstances.
"Named for its oscillating and twitching internal logic, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 is a bit like Schrödinger's Band. Sometimes "death metal", sometimes "black metal", sometimes "dissonant", sometimes "melodic", sometimes serene and sometimes panicked. Likewise it's sometimes the solo studio project of 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙣, sometimes the trio formed by the addition of 𝙋𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙆𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣 (bass) and 𝙍𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 (drums). Sometimes dead, sometimes alive, none or all of these depending on when you look inside - and who is looking. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠's third album ‘𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚’ is also named for this state of being - everything and nothing, everywhere and nowhere, out of time at all times. Once you've journeyed to your innermost point, to the black mirror at the root of the soul, the only way out is through. For its first ever headline show, and a full 6 years since the last appearance in 𝙉𝙖𝙖𝙧𝙢, Convulsing the band will again be observable - for a limited time."
