Following a string of sell out shows in 2022, the Nadav Rayman Trio presents an exploration in Jazz and Hip-Hop at the iconic Brunswick Ballroom as part of the Brunswick Music Festival 2023.

The trio, affiliated with the Simmer Town collective, have earned a reputation for energetic shows which bring contemporary soul jazz to a wider audience.

This special Saturday matinee show will feature Erica Tucceri on Flute and MC/Vocalist Hyina Mufasa, Tumi the Be, Thamson P and emerging new talent Olivia C. Dacal.

Their debut album, Second Sight, was nominated for The Australian Music Prize 2022, described by judges as: “Shapeshifting and soulful instrumental jazz from a Melbourne trio that cop influence from the worlds of hip-hop and r&b. One minute light and delicate, the next, cinematic and dramatic, this is an outfit stretching out musically, while still remaining remarkably accessible”.

MELBOURNE, AU (DEC 9, 2022) – Berlin based musician ALICE PHOEBE LOU has today announced a second date for the Melbourne leg of her debut Australia and New Zealand tour in 2023. Alice’s first show at Melbourne’s Howler has sold out and due to overwhelming demand, a second show has been added for Saturday, March 11 at Brunswick Ballroom.

Tickets are on sale now. For complete tour and ticket information, visit: livenation.com.au

Born in South Africa and having developed her ethereal indie-folk sound busking on the streets of Berlin, Alice Phoebe Lou has caught the ears of a community of music lovers with her honest storytelling and raw, beautiful voice. Alice moved to Berlin to become a professional busker in 2013. A year later, funded by the money she made busking, she self-released her debut EP “Momentum”. She has since released four studio records, two live records and two EP’s as an independent artist. Untainted by commercial ambition, Alice still performs on the street when not on tour and as much as circumstances allow.

In 2019 Alice and her band performed over 100 shows. With touring coming to a standstill in 2020, Alice took the initiative to build a studio with her musician friends in Berlin so they could collectively develop their skills in engineering whilst producing their own recordings. In March 2021 Alice released her third studio LP ”Glow”, a breathtaking work full of visceral star-dusted songs in which she articulated her deepest thoughts and emotions.

With touring still on a global standstill and a studio to work at daily, Alice focused on recording yet another album. Alongside her best friends and musical partners Ziv and Daklis, she travelled to beautiful British Columbia to make a record with David Parry who had produced “Glow” the year before. “The process was simple and intuitive, using an 8 track tape machine and allowing the very new songs to grow into themselves. We worked tirelessly on a limited schedule, so used to each other by now from recording ‘Glow’ together that it felt easy and enjoyable.” Out of those intuitive recording sessions on Vancouver Island “Child’s Play” was born.
