The Spence/Buck duo comprises Sydney pianist and composer and Berlin-based drummer Tony Buck (who has been touring here with The Necks), performing material from their recently released debut album, Mythographer. Spence and Buck share a fascination with submerged rhythm, oblique extended forms, entwined interplay, and sound for its own sake. As contemporaries, their musical histories have run in parallel—and occasionally intersecting—for the last thirty years. For the last five years or so they have been enjoying a musical re-connection musically.

Berlin-based pianist and composer Meredith Maloney will perform an opening solo set. She has developed a set of techniques that draw on the history of prepared and inside piano vocabulary, but are highly individualized and expand the language for internal piano music making. She has collaborated with Christine Abdelnour, Great Waitress, Monika Brooks, and Laura Altman, amongst others. She has toured in Europe, the USA, Australia, Mexico and Lebanon, and released over 40 CDS to date.
