Mark Farina, the legendary DJ and creator of Mushroom Jazz, is coming to Howler for the very first time. Known worldwide for his deep, soulful house and laid-back grooves, Farina promises an unforgettable night for Melbourne dancefloors.
Mark Farina is a legendary American DJ and producer best known for pioneering the fusion of house, jazz, and downtempo sounds into a style he coined Mushroom Jazz. Emerging from Chicago’s influential house music scene in the late 1980s, Farina quickly earned a reputation for his deep, soulful sets that effortlessly blend groove-driven rhythms with smooth, jazzy textures. Relocating to San Francisco in the 1990s, he helped shape the West Coast’s underground electronic sound, becoming a key figure in both deep house and lounge culture worldwide. With decades of acclaimed releases, mixes, and marathon DJ sets to his name, Farina continues to be celebrated as a tastemaker whose musical vision bridges dancefloor energy with laid-back sophistication. This year, he brings that signature sound to Howler in Brunswick for the very first time, marking a special occasion for Melbourne house heads and fans of his iconic Mushroom Jazz series.
