Marcello Cole creates music far from the puddle of normality.
The singer for abrasive rock and abusive blues outfit GOUTLAW, Marcello takes a step back, weaving his trademark stories from the filthy side of the gutter alone as a solo singer/songwriter.
Weaving dark lo-fi folk tales with an acoustic guitar, Cole speaks to the disconnected and disparate, with nods to trailblazers like Dead Moon, Jason Molina, Karen Dalton, and Paul Westerberg.
But the sound is completely his own, and encompasses his whole journey, channelling the harsh dry of his birth state of South Australia, and culminating in the urban decay of his new home in Melbourne, Victoria.
See him on May 18th at The Brunswick Artists Bar with punky country rocker Jules Sheldon supporting.
