Gothic Rockers Mankind make their mainland Aus debut at Bar Open on their "Home Away from Home" Tour.
Latest single "HOME" is an ode to our urge for something to call home, a place to be, a people to be with, an external or internal sense of belonging and safety that makes us all human.
Joining them are hometown post-punk acts Remit & Town Ace. Mankind is an exciting, melodic Gothic rock/post-punk project from NW Tas created by multi-instrumentalist Dan Cooper. Effect laden, melodic bass lines are pushed to the fore as the lead instrument while rhythmic tom patterns and funk inspired big beats couple with harmonic droning synths to fill out the soundscape. Lyrics with a dark analysis of everyday life complete a truly hypnotic Gothic pop sound.

RUFFLES is a naarm/meanjin multi-instumentalist and producer who likes drum-machines a little too much.. making breakbeat, dub-house and live tech with detroit-flavoured percussion, jazzy harmonics and dub-drenched production technique, a RUFFLES set is heavy on improv arrangement, live drum-machine work, analog synth flex and dubs for days..

2023 appearances at Blazing Swan and Ichiban festival in the Philippines led into early 2024 spots at Motley Bauhaus and the Electric Relaxation sessions at Workshop Bar, so a 2 hour late workout at Bar Open is gonna be a chance to stretch out with some new toys and give their fresh front bar soundsystem a good rinse.
