Third Floor Showcase is hosted by Jazzlab on Saturday afternoon, featuring incredible bands from music degrees around Melbourne, curated by Tamara Murphy.

There are bands from VCA (The University of Melbourne), Monash University, Box Hill Institute, Victoria University and Melbourne Polytechnic.

Lovely Rita is a guitar/bass duo consisting of Henry Cameron and Vincent Barker paying homage to the compositions and works of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. They aim to employ the use of improvisation to reinterpret the Beatles' catalogue, whilst capturing the essence of these timeless compositions.

Ashes is a newly formed band, run by trumpeter Ashley Ballat. This ensemble plays freely improvised, conceptual pieces of music that are inspired by stories, and movie soundtracks from David Lynch and the music of Bill Frisell, Bjork and Arve Henriksen.

Audrey Powne is a name synonymous in both jazz and R&B circles with ingenuity and inventiveness. The Trumpeter/Vocalist and stalwart of Melbourne’s burgeoning jazz/soul scene is known for fronting alt. RnB outfit ‘Leisure Centre’ (F.K.A. The Do Yo Thangs) and genre defying synth-pop duo ‘Au Dré.’

Described as "..the very brilliant Audrey Powne" by legendary BBC radio DJ Gilles Peterson she is very much a name on the rise.

This is your chance to see her in her element, to perform a collection of choice standards, hard-bop classics and originals alongside an incredible band of Melbourne jazz phenom's.

Audrey Powne (Trumpet/Vocals) Lachlan Mclean (Sax) Tamara Murphy (Bass) Darrin Archer (Bass) and Sam Bates (Drums)
