WTF Tuesdays are back at the Green! A new series mixing up jazz improv sessions- contemporary classical- and live scores to classic movies.

This Tuesday features sets from Loose Leaf: Saragossi/Svoboda/van der Schyff and a special duo performance from international guests Jacob Hiser (USA) and Umar Zakaria (NZ)

Loose Leaf: Saragossi/Svoboda/van der Schyff

The latest project from saxophonist Andrew Saragossi, featuring two of Melbourne’s most idiosyncratic musical voices, Helen Svoboda (d.bass) & Dylan van der Schyff (drums).

The trio play with an uninhibited sense of musical freedom and trust, cultivating moments of profound beauty, intensity and pure ecstasy.

Jacob Hiser (USA) & Umar Zakaria (NZ)

Jacob Hiser is a versatile pianist who performs and studies many musical traditions from all over the world. Originally from Missouri, where he graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies, he now lives and works in Boston, having recently completed a master’s degree program in Contemporary Improvisation at New England Conservatory.

Umar Zakaria is a New Zealand bassist and composer filled with hope for the future. His music unites diverse musical traditions to inspire communication and cooperation across boundaries. In 2018, he was awarded the Tui Award for Best Jazz Artist by Recorded Music New Zealand for his album 'Fearless Music'.

Since meeting in Boston in 2015, their duo performances have explored a deep and lifelong friendship that is equal parts silliness and solidarity. Come and be a part of this continuing tale of two lives, spinning separately yet intertwined across the vast circumference of the planet

Music from 8:30pm // Tickets $15 (or pay what you can at the door)
