FULL PRICE: $49 / CONCESSION PRICE: $42Award-winning Norwegian pianist and composer Liv Andrea Hauge makes her Australian debut with Sydney’s Chloe Kim (drums) and Jacques Emery (bass).
Pianist and composer Liv Andrea Hauge (Norway) is at the forefront of contemporary Scandinavian jazz. Performing in Australia for the first time, Hauge builds on her long-time trans-continental collaboration with Sydney-based improvising drummer Chloe Kim, forming a special trio with double bassist Jacques Emery.
Hague’s compositions blend singable, pop-adjacent melodies with complex jazz harmonies, drawing inspiration from the likes of Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, and Norwegian jazz luminaries like Christian Wallumrød and Maria Kannegaard.
Chloe Kim’s inventive drumming and Jacques Emery’s genre-spanning bass work bring new dimensions to Hauge’s music in this premiere performance at the JazzLab.
FULL PRICE: $49 / CONCESSION PRICE: $42“…absolutely crazy good” – Gilles Peterson
lvdf is a thrilling new collaboration between four artists at the forefront of their respective jazz scenes: drummer Myele Manzanza (NZ), saxophonist Alex Hitchcock (UK), double bassist Michelangelo Scandroglio (Italy) and pianist Daniel Hayles (NZ).
Described as “virtuosos” (The Guardian), “electric” (Okayplayer) and “absolutely crazy good” (Gilles Peterson), lvdf’s members are prolific musicians, bandleaders and solo artists. Together, they channel their distinct voices into a bold, unified sound that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
This is contemporary jazz at the intersection of electronic, indie, dance and classical music that fans of Robert Glasper, The Bad Plus, Eric Harland and Kaidi Tatham won’t want to miss.
