To celebrate the release of their fierce debut EP ‘Reclamation’, Tomboi Records presents LION’s Reclamation EP Launch at Mamma Chen’s in Footscray (Naarm/Melb) on October 25th 2024. Supported by genre-blurring electronic duo Peachnoise, and powerful solo artist Naavikaran; this show will immerse you in unapologetic artistry.

Written and produced primarily by LION themselves, ‘Reclamation’ is an encapsulation and introduction to LION’s sonic world. ‘This body of work showcases different sides of LION’s artistry; from the brash hyperpop influences of ‘Attention’, to the percussive Afrobeats grooves of “Mitmita”. Underpinned by socio-political commentary on gender constructs, race, identity and mental health; ‘Reclamation’ conveys LION’s values, packaged in a hard-hitting electronic pop format.

LION is a multidisciplinary queer black music artist and dancer from Naarm (Melbourne). Having spent the last 3 years refining their artistry with the Tomboi Records team, LION echoes somewhere between Todrick Hall and Lil Nas X. Their heavy beats and distorted synths evoke a lion’s roar.

Peachnoise is an electronic duo from Melbourne, made up of Polyslyme (Raglan, New Zealand) and Double Birdseye (originally from Germany, raised in Adelaide). Their music blends influences like Koji Kondo, Debussy, Kimbra, SOPHIE and Solange, with Polyslyme on the awa-awa hot beats, and Double Birdseye on the oooohs and la laaaaas.

Previously awarded the 30 Under 30 LGBTIQ+ leaders in Australia, Goddess Naavikaran is a Naarm based change maker and storyteller, futurist pop musician and DJ, stage and production manager, and theatre producer.
