Castlemaine-based artist Calan Stanley presents Liminal, a new exhibition of oil and gouache paintings exploring transition, perception, and change. Developed through an intuitive process, the paintings reflect moments of passage where one state fades and another emerges. The exhibition moves between landscape and still life, shaped by both observation and interpretation. Works inspired by a 2025 Sicily trip capture shifting light and atmosphere, while still lifes evolve more slowly in the studio. Across Liminal, painting becomes both anchor and threshold, capturing fleeting, uncertain moments of transformation.
