Leaps and Bounds Festival presents Leo's 'Rough Hands' Single Launch

Leo is a Naarm/Melbourne based singer songwriter writing confronting yet sincere songs around the indie/folk/rock genre.

Coming out on June 30th is Leo’s heartfelt third single Rough Hands. Following their atmospheric single ‘Doctor’ and the eerie and indie-pop ‘Half Unconscious’, is the hard-hitting, energised Rough Hands. Although described as ‘a song you could run along to’, Leo’s signature lyricism is still ever present in their forthcoming single. “So take what you want from me, I’m not living so happily/I came and I saw, now I don’t have much left to live for”. Demonstrated in their upcoming and prior singles, Leo will not shy away from telling you how they really feel. Initially written in 2018 about “someone close who moved away to sell cattle in rural Queensland”, Rough Hands was later re-written and produced over 2021/22.

Rough Hands was recorded with producer Jonathon Tooke (best known as half of Cry Club, but also for his work with artists like Bec Stevens, Eaglemont, Pretty Bleak and The Lazy Susans) at The Black Lodge Studios in Brunswick. The track boasts harmonies from local indie-rock favourite, Eaglemont (Bridgitte Jessop) and drums from Nick Robinson. The song was mixed by Jarred Nettle (Teenage Joans, Bec Stevens, Towns) and mastered by Adam Dempsey (Courtney Barnett, Didirri, Angie McMahon).
