Perspectives is the debut album from Naarm/Melbourne-based trombonist and composer Kyle Chenoweth, a project born from the exploration of how visual stimuli can inspire and shape musical ideas.

Over two years in development, Perspectives examines the interplay between sight and sound, translating images and visual textures into melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic concepts that blur the lines between composition and improvisation.

Each piece serves as a response to a distinct visual impression—a moment captured, refracted, and reimagined through sound. The result is a collection of works that balances structure with freedom, drawing listeners into an evolving landscape where compositional form meets the spontaneity of collective improvisation.

Personnel:

  • Oscar Bruten – Tenor Saxophone
  • Miro Lauritz – Piano
  • Jack Smythe – Bass
  • Miles Farnan – Drums
  • Kyle Chenoweth – Trombone

Together, they bring the music to life—creating a sound world that is at once painterly and deeply human, with shifting colours, layered textures, and moments of bold expression.
