King Con: comics, games and pop culture

Kingston Libraries is hosting a comic-con style event at Cheltenham Library on Saturday 24 May from 10.00am – 4.00pm.

King Con is an all-ages event for those interested in comics, games and pop culture.

There will be several guests in attendance, including the acclaimed author and comic artist Mandy Ord, bestselling author Adam Wallace, members of the Rebel Legion and 501st Garrison, and Southern Rogues Saber Corps.

There will also be storytime, facepainting, Minecraft, Mario Kart, craft workshops, board games, Dungeons & Dragons, LEGO® and more.

Everyone is invited to come in costume and take part in the cosplay parade to show off their creative flair and possibly win a prize for best dressed.

Shop and browse in the Artist Alley, which will showcase an exciting mix of original and fan-made creations from talented local artists and makers.

Food trucks and a coffee van will also be present to satisfy the snacking needs of attendees.

King Con aims to bring the community together to celebrate their interests in comics, games and pop culture, to showcase the library collections including comics, graphic novels, books and films, expose the community to new and/or local experiences, and attract non-library users to our libraries.

The event is free, and no bookings are required to attend. There are selected activities that will require bookings on the day – please see concierge at Cheltenham Library on the day.

There will be limited parking onsite, so we encourage people to take public transport, carpool, walk or cycle.
